the picts started with jim in 1995. having been
a singer in several different bands with which he was unhappy, jim decided to
form his own band in which he would be the primary songwriter.
karla jointed within the month, and the two decided to move to houston to get the picts
going. they lived there for a couple of years going through a couple of guitar players.
it was during this time they recorded the "f.o.p." 7". unhappy in houston, jim and karla
decided to move to shreveport. they stayed there for a
couple of years, and during this time the band went through several guitar players. after
a year and a half, jim decided to play guitar himself, but it wasn't long before they decided
to fill out the sound with another guitar player. this did not work out, and soon after
the drummer and other guitarist quit. a new drummer was soon found in a guy jim worked with,
ryan, and, unsatisfied with shreveport in general, they all moved to new orleans.
in new orleans they toured relentlessly for a couple years and recorded material for the
out of print "the great game" and for what would become "here we go." after this ryan left.
they also added james on second guitar at this time, but he left to attend recording school soon after
ryan. after replacing ryan with a guy named john and james with current member kevin,
the picts continued to tour, but they were unable to do so as much as previously. the band
soon parted ways with john and justin took his place. with this line-up
in place, by far the strongest, they recorded the current "ready to die" and spend as much time
as possible on the road.
